About the Asia-Pacific Network

The SHAFR Asia-Pacific Network (SHAFR-APAC) is intended to serve members of SHAFR in Asia and the Pacific, as well as connect other scholars of international, global, transnational, diplomatic, and U.S. foreign relations history based in the wider region. The network plans to convene an in-person workshop every two years and held its first such workshop in March 2026 at the Singapore Management University. These small in-person workshops allow historians who are preparing or revising their writing for journals and book presses to receive detailed and constructive feedback on their work-in-progress, and more generally provide a venue for rewarding exchanges of ideas. The network also plans to host an online seminar series and arrange other occasional networking opportunities.
