Giving to SHAFR

SHAFR has flourished over the years in large part due to the generosity of its members and friends. Countless gifts of large and modest size have established the Society on a firm financial foundation and enabled it to offer a wide range of programs, fellowships, and prizes that advance its missions of promoting scholarship and learning about the history of American foreign relations. Consistent with the legacy of its earliest benefactors, the Society remains especially committed to advancing the goals and aspirations of graduate students and other early-career scholars. SHAFR welcomes additional contributions from members, friends, and supporters.

SHAFR is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. For tax-deduction purposes, receipts will be provided for all contributions. Please direct any questions or concerns about online donations to Executive Director Amy Sayward at [email protected].

Special Funds and Campaigns

  • The Michael H. Hunt Prize for International History is awarded annually to a historian of any nationality for a first book that produces fresh perspectives on international or global history since the mid-19th century. The book must make substantial use of historical records in more than one language.

  • The Robert A. and Barbara Divine Graduate Student Travel Fund was established in 2006 to honor Professor and Mrs. Robert A. Divine. A long-time professor at the University of Texas, Bob Divine made a deep impact on the field of U.S. foreign relations history through his numerous, influential books and articles and his careful attention to the education of graduate students. The Divine Fund supports the travel of graduate students who are presenting papers at the annual meetings of SHAFR.
