We are writing to share that the call for applications for the 27th Annual TISS New Faces Conference is now open and would appreciate it if you would spread the below message within your networks and encourage any qualified candidates to apply.
The conference will take place on October 1-2, 2026at Duke University. TISS will cover all travel expenses for those selected to participate.
Each fall, the Triangle Institute for Security Studies brings together a group of exceptional early career scholars in security studies to share their research and connect with others working on cutting-edge research on national and international security in history, political science, public policy, and other related disciplines. The New Faces conference is designed for advanced PhD candidates and newly-minted PhDs going on the academic job market within the next year. New Faces provides selected participants the opportunity to present their dissertation research and get feedback from an interdisciplinary audience including faculty, graduate students, and practitioners. We welcome applicants from a range of fields related to security studies, including history, political science, and public policy.
Details on how to apply for the 2026 conference can be found at New Faces – Triangle Institute for Security Studies (tiss-nc.org). The deadline to apply is May 1st, 2026. Selection decisions will be made by early June.
