Wabash College- Historian of Latin America and the Global South - Job Posting

Good evening Dear Colleagues

Hello again from Indiana! I hope this email finds you all well and surviving the fall semester or whatever adventure you are on. I am hoping you may consider and/or help spread this announcement to interested parties in your graduate program and/or network? I am chair of the History Dept. this year and I am excited about the direction we are headed and about this position. Please feel free to direct any inquiries my way!

Wabash College is searching for a new tenure-track faculty member at Assistant or Associate rank in the History of Latin America and the Global South. Our ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to engaging and evidence-based teaching practices that support student success alongside excellence and innovation in research in an undergraduate liberal arts setting. Candidates with expertise in digital history, public history, or oral history are particularly encouraged to apply.  The successful candidates also will teach World History and contribute to all-college courses.

Founded in 1832, Wabash College is a private, independent, residential four-year liberal arts college. Our 65-acre wooded campus is located 45 minutes west of Indianapolis and three hours from Chicago. Approximately 30% of our students are federal Pell Grant recipients, one-third of our students are first-generation college students, and about 20% of our students identify as domestic students of color. Wabash is a member of the USC Race and Equity Center’s Liberal Arts Colleges Racial Equity Leadership Alliance, a top-60 Liberal Arts College according to U.S. News, and a member of Colleges That Change Lives. Many students, staff, and faculty find the close-knit community of the residential college one of the most rewarding aspects of their time here. The full position description is available on our employment website.

We seek to hire the most qualified person and are especially interested in selecting this person from a diverse applicant pool. Please share the position opportunity with students in your graduate program and others in your academic network. I appreciate you contacting me if you know of scholars who will help us develop a robust, diverse pool, and I will personally reach out to them. The search committee will begin review of applicants on November 4, 2022.
